Climb for a Cure 2013: Kilimanjaro

Story

First of all, this is a personal challenge.  Kilimanjaro is going to be tough, 7 days of trekking (mostly above 3700m altitude), temperatures down to 15 below freezing, and not to forget almost 4000 metres worth of uphill (and back down again – my knees aren’t looking forward to that!).  Hopefully the views at the top of the highest mountain in Africa (5895m) will make it all worthwhile.

But even if altitude sickness spoils my walk or the weather spoils my views, there is a more important challenge to be faced.  Cancer affects so many people directly or indirectly, and I believe the best way to reduce the suffering is from research and finding better methods for detection and treatment.  So the real challenge for all of us is to see if we can make a difference by helping the Cure Cancer Australia Foundation. Whether it is that big breakthrough that might save thousands of lives tomorrow, or just another small piece in the jigsaw puzzle of our knowledge, there are talented researchers out there that need our support to help make a difference.

Please consider whether you can help by clicking on the Donate button to make a secure online donation.
